On Wednesday, Sky Deutschland journalist Patrick Berger reported VfB Stuttgart were in advanced negotiations with Brighton & Hove Albion for Mahmoud Dahoud.
Later that day, Berger shared a video of the 28-year-old arriving in Germany, to secure a loan move to the Bundesliga side.
Bild have also reported on that and provide more updates on the midfielder’s impending exit from Brighton.
The Germany international was set to undergo medical tests with Stuttgart yesterday and sign a loan deal until the end of this season.
Bild state Stuttgart’s aim is ‘to sign him permanently’ in the summer but haven’t agreed a mandatory/automatic purchase option with Brighton as part of the loan deal.
It’s claimed Stuttgart manager Sebastian Hoeneß is keen on bringing the former Borussia Dortmund man back to Germany in the winter market.
Berger took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to state the Brighton player has completed his medical tests. He says it’s a ‘done deal’ and only the official announcement is missing.
Sky Deutschland add Dahoud’s loan move to the Bundesliga side will be made official on Thursday morning, after which he’ll take part in the first training session with his new teammates at 10:30am local time.
The German has struggled for regular minutes since he joined Brighton on a free transfer last summer and was keen to return to the Bundesliga. This deal should go through in the next few hours.
