Kalvin Phillips is leaving Manchester City for West Ham United, according to reports today.
Sky Deutschland journalist Florian Plettenberg writes on Twitter there’s a ‘done deal’, with the clubs finding a ‘total agreement’ for his move.
Phillips is set to have a medical with West Ham on Thursday, and ‘will join’ David Moyes’ side on a six-month loan.
The Hammers are expected to pay Manchester City a loan fee, and should then have an option to buy the player at the end of the season.
That brings an end to this January saga, as Phillips had not only been linked to Premier League clubs, but to sides from abroad as well.
Signed from Leeds United on a €49m deal in 2022, the midfielder had been of little use for Pep Guardiola lately, having made ten appearances for Manchester City this season.
Despite the interest from abroad, it seems he was far more interested in staying in the Premier League, and it’s up to him to convince West Ham to buy him at the end of the loan spell with Plettenberg then adding in a separate post the required fee would be €40m.
All this comes ahead of the Euros, as Phillips wants to be a part of the England squad chosen by Gareth Southgate.
