Crystal Palace are inches away from formalising the deal for Aston Villa‘s Evann Guessand.
The Villans signed the forward from OGC Nice in August 2025, and he managed two goals from 21 matches.
In January, Unai Emery’s side let him join Crystal Palace on loan. He scored two goals and contributed an assist from 14 matches and won the UEFA Conference League.
A knee injury restricted Guessand’s game time at Selhurst Park. He has returned to his parent club but has no future at Villa Park.
On July 30th, Sport Witness covered claims from France that the Europa League winners are ready to let him go out on loan. Marseille, who have shown interest, can’t advance because of their financial situation.
Verge of Crystal Palace return
The latest claims have covered the UEFA Conference League winners’ interest in the 25-year-old.
Sacha Tavolieri took to X to back that up and cover the latest.
He claims it’s a ‘done deal’ for him to return to Selhurst Park this summer. The operation is at an advanced stage and only one step is pending for Crystal Palace to confirm the signing.
Evann Guessand has attracted interest from FC Porto and Bayer Leverkusen. Pierre Sage’s side have managed to beat competition from these two clubs for his signature.
According to Tavolieri, the Frenchman has already completed his medical tests with the London club. The Aston Villa player will sign his contract on Wednesday morning.
He doesn’t specify whether the Eagles are signing him on a fresh loan or a permanent transfer.

Crystal Palace hours away from announcement
Oliver Glasner stepped down at the end of last season and Pierre Sage replaced him at the Premier League side.
The managerial changes didn’t impact Evann Guessand’s chances of returning to Crystal Palace. They should make his signing official soon, most likely in the next few hours.
