Prior to the Champions League clash between Celtic and Lazio tonight, their youngsters faced each other in the Youth League.
The Italian side opened the scoring in the first half, and it was only in injury time that Celtic equalised the game after winning a penalty.
Outlet La Lazio Siamo Noi now feature the reaction to that match, and bring some quotes from Lazio captain Fabio Ruggeri.
The youngster was clearly not happy with the result, insisting they played better than Celtic, who he believes only really offered danger at the end of the match and due a random situation.
“We interpreted the match correctly, the approach was important. We showed it technically, we always kept the ball, they were never dangerous, but an unfortunate episode happens and we will deal with it,” Ruggeri told Italian journalists in the mixed zone.
“It can go well or badly, depending on the episodes. It went well in Sassuolo. They are the ones who determine the episodes. But we don’t feel inferior to them, we dominated.”
That’s undoubtedly a great build up for tonight’s game, which will be quite important for Lazio’s and Celtic’s chances of getting to the knock-out stage, especially depending on the result of the match between Atletico Madrid and Feyenoord.
The general slant in the Italian media has been that Lazio are the favourites for that match, even though they’re set to face a big atmosphere at Celtic Park which will certainly give the home side a boost.
