Prior to his move to Juventus from Sassuolo, Manuel Locatelli was a big target for Arsenal, who were looking for a new midfielder.

We covered the story at the time, with him deciding to remain in Italy rather than move abroad to a Gunners team that wasn’t performing.

However, things have changed a lot since, with the Turin side struggling in Serie A, and Arsenal now fighting at the top of the Premier League under Mikel Arteta.

In the meantime, Locatelli has remained a target for the London side, with multiple claims suggesting they could make a move in the near future.

There remains a belief that Arsenal still want to bolster their midfield, and contact is said to have been made regarding a potential transfer.

Among those commenting on the situation is Giovanni Albanese, a journalist for Gazzetta dello Sport, who spoke to Calciomercato.it about Locatelli.

He said: “Even when he was at Sassuolo, they were following from across the Channel, but I don’t see him far away from Juventus. Then again, that Arsenal are always at the window doesn’t surprise me.”

Basically, the idea here is that Albanese doesn’t see Locatelli leaving anytime soon, especially with him starting regularly under Allegri.
