Despite a strong start to the season, going unbeaten in seven league games, Manchester City are finding times a bit tougher with no wins in their last four in all competitions.
A dip in form was bound to happen at some stage in the season, but few thought it would be so soon.
However, if there’s one man who can surely turn things around quickly, it’s Pep Guardiola, whose managerial track record speaks for itself.
Many players have described the Spanish manager’s desire to win and tactical knowledge as the keys behind his success, and rarely do we hear bad words spoken about the former Barcelona player and coach.
Interviewed by Gazzetta dello Sport, Medhi Benatia, now on loan at Juventus from Bayern Munich, was asked to compare his last two managers, which include Guardiola, having spent two years under the Manchester City manager in the Bundesliga.
Comparing the Spaniard to Massimiliano Allegri, his current manager at Juventus, the Moroccan defender explained that despite their similarities in what they expect from their players, the Italian manager was closer to his players.
He said: “Guardiola doesn’t communicate. Once, he told me why that’s the case. He explained it was because he felt let down by the relationship with some players at Barcelona. He said: ‘I do what I have to do, which is be the manager’.”
To each their own, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it, etc…
