Tammy Abraham’s potential transfer to Aston Villa has been one of the biggest stories in Turkey’s football media this week.
Due to Villa currently having a depleted squad through injury, and the sale of Donyell Malen, Unai Emery is keen to bring in players before the transfer window ends.
Yesterday, we covered reports the two clubs were locked in transfer talks as an agreement over his fee was discussed. Aston Villa latest offer increased to €17.5m, with them prepared to hit €20m, but Beşiktaş now want more than €20m.
Abraham has agreed personal terms to return to the Premier League club, as previously stated. The 28-year-old impressed whilst out on loan with the Villians during the 2018/19 season.
However, a dilemma Beşiktaş have is replacing the former Chelsea player before the transfer deadline.
Aston Villa transfer deal held up
HaberTurk report Beşiktaş president Serdal Adalı and their coach Sergen Yalçın have held discussions with regards to losing Abraham to Aston Villa. Subsequently, there seems to be some dithering.
The Black Eagles have been linked with Napoli’s Romelu Lukaku in recent days. However, that chance has been dismissed by Italian sources.
Another option for the Super Lig side would be to stick with Atalanta loanee El Bilal Toure until the end of the season. Adalı and Yalçın would then concentrate on improving in the wide attacking areas.
Inter Milan forward Luis Henrique would be their prime target, although reaching a deal with the Serie A giants will be challenging.
Despite this hold up it seems Abraham will soon get his desired transfer to Aston Villa, as long as the Birmingham club don’t walk away. The centre forward is keen to be return to England, following spells in Italy and Turkey.
Abraham spent the 2018/19 season on loan at Villa Park and impressed during his time there. He scored 26 goals in 46 games before returning to his parent club Chelsea. In 2021, he joined Jose Mourinho at Roma.
