Valencia’s Pepelu has dismissed claims of a problem between the squad and Carlos Corberán, who has been linked with Middlesbrough.

Marca cover comments made by the 27-year-old after the La Liga side’s 1-1 draw against Real Betis on Sunday.

Valencia have two wins from 12 league matches and are currently 17th, level on points with 18th placed Girona.

The poor run under Corberán encouraged the UK media to link him to Middlesbrough, who have seen Rob Edwards leave them for Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Corberán has been linked to Middlesbrough, but the Spanish press have made clear no official approach has been made yet.

The former West Bromwich Albion coach said he remains focused on his job at Mestalla amid the Middlesbrough links.

Despite his commitment to Valencia, there’s been claims of conflict within the dressing room between the Spaniard and his players. This has annoyed Pepelu, who has now defended unity at the club.

“I think it’s a bit disrespectful to my teammates when these kinds of things come out, because the manager knows we’re behind him,” he said.

“We’ve shown it. That’s how it’ll continue to be, because he’s made us much better and I’m sure he’ll make us even better.

“We’ll have better days and worse days, but we’re all in this together, we give our all for each other, and that’s football. There might be mistakes, there might be successes, but that will never go away.”
