Leeds United have managed one league win out of their last seven league matches and this has resulted in sporting director Victor Orta and manager Javi Gracia’s departures in the last two days.

In their last outing, the Whites suffered a 4-1 defeat against AFC Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium. Leeds players were not only criticised for their displays on the pitch but also for their behaviour off the pitch.

A video of Leeds players refusing to greet fans as they left the hotel before last weekend’s clash went viral on social networking platforms, which former Netherlands René van der Gijp reviewed on Vandaag Inside, relayed by Soccernews.nl, and was critical of their behaviour.

“The fact that as a trainer you don’t say anything about that… Players have huge headphones on their heads, just sit on their phones. Then there is one of those little guys who asks for an autograph. This is disgraceful, this is really disgraceful. This is the new normal. They are total idiots walking by,” he said.

Van der Gijp’s fellow panellist and Dutch journalist, Johan Derksen, also shared his views of Leeds players’ failure to acknowledge their supporters.

“The gentlemen all think they are movie stars. They don’t communicate with their fans and with their youth and then set a bad example on the field. They all walk around with those ‘ear muffs’. They should never criticise the supporters again,” Derksen explained.

It’s to be noted the young boy’s father, who was seen asking for an autograph, has stated the incident has been exaggerated and only part of it is shown in the video. He has also clarified that his son received attention from Gracia and got an autograph from Brenden Aaronson.

Leeds players have since issued a statement through the club’s official website and apologised for not acknowledging their fans.
