PSG are looking to show a number of players the door this summer, and Julian Draxler falls into that category.

The French club have been open to his sale for a while, but he’s been against it, liking his life in Paris and feeling he can be a useful part of PSG’s squad. Now, things are a little different, with more pressure being put on the player to find himself a new club.

Le10 Sport report Newcastle United have made initial contact for the signing, and they say the situation has gone beyond a mere expression of interest.

Eddie Howe’s side have asked for PSG’s terms for a transfer, and it’s stated the French club want €20-30m for the 28-year-old. According to the report, it’s unknown whether Newcastle would be willing to match the figures required.

Nevertheless, ‘discussions are underway’ for the potential switch, and there’s certainly a deal there to be done. Newcastle will likely find it harder to convince Draxler himself than PSG, and that’s where the serious work will need to be done.
