Four days ago, Roma Metropolitan Magazine explained that Tottenham Hotspur’s Eric Dier is ‘strongly sought’ by AS Roma.
The Serie A side are set to face competition from Fenerbahçe to sign the defender in January.
That’s according to Takvim, who state the Turkish club have taken steps to try to take the 29-year-old away from Tottenham.
It’s claimed Fenerbahçe board member Selahattin Baki made a trip to England to hold talks with the centre-back.
The England international’s contract lasts until 2024 and he’s been restricted to only two appearances this season.
It’s claimed the Yellow Canaries’ intention is to secure the former Sporting man’s services for a ‘reasonable fee’. Takvim, however, make no mention of the fee they could offer Tottenham or if the player is willing to join them in the upcoming window.
Ange Postecoglou has also urged Spurs to bring in a new centre-back next month. Dier could drop further down the pecking order if the north London club were to sign a new player in the same position.
Fenerbahçe are aiming to strengthen their defence in the winter market and have identified the Tottenham man, Burnley’s Hjalmar Ekdal and Brentford’s Mikkel Damsgaard as targets.
