Rangers’ Danilo travelled to the Netherlands last week, to leave Ibrox in the winter market. Danny Röhl’s side had reached an agreement with NEC Nijmegen for his loan transfer.
The winter market in the UK closed on Monday but the forward hadn’t left Rangers by that time. Röhl’s side were waiting to sign an attacker first before sanctioning Danilo’s Ibrox exit.
On deadline day, Rangers completed the signing of Ryan Naderi from Hansa Rostock. A day later, the Dutch press explained his arrival at Ibrox opened the door for Danilo to join NEC Nijmegen.
Luckily for NEC Nijmegen, the winter window in the Netherlands was open until Tuesday and they completed the Brazilian’s loan signing on their deadline day. The Eredivisie side have agreed a purchase option with Rangers.
Voetbal International have had a chat with NEC Nijmegen technical director Carlos Aalbers to discuss some of their business in the recently concluded window. The majority of the interview focuses on rejecting offers for Kodai Sano.
Control over Rangers player
Towards the end, the Dutch club’s official talks about the 26-year-old forward’s arrival on loan from Röhl’s side.
“On Monday during the day, we already knew things would work out with Danilo. Rangers still needed to sign a striker, and that ultimately worked out,” he said.
The director is pleased to have negotiated an option to buy the South American with the Scottish club. He hasn’t specified the figure but insists it’s certainly affordable for his side.
“We are very happy that we negotiated a purchase option, so we have control over the situation. It also involves a realistic transfer fee, should we exercise the option,” Aalbers explained.
“Danilo can play as a striker, but also behind the striker. I hope he can make his contribution soon.”
