Alejo Véliz’s transfer to Tottenham Hotspur continues to get huge attention in Rosario’s local media.
Today, it’s Cadena 3 Rosario who had been speaking about the player’s move to England, and they managed to interview people from his former club.
At the Siempre Juntos show, the station managed to speak to Ruben Ramirez, technical director of Bernardo de Yrigoyen, where Véliz started his career.
He revealed that before flying to England to sign for Tottenham, the 19-year-old was invited to visit his former club, and he did go there to say farewell in what was an ’emotional meeting’ at a goodbye dinner.
“We invited him and he came. He arrived in town on Thursday night. I chatted with his uncle and made the invitation. He immediately accepted and came. When he returns to town he is one more. On Friday people charged him a bit, he went to ask for photos and that.”
“He looked very good, happy, the boys asked him when he was travelling.”
Ramirez also claimed he’s expecting Véliz to succeed in European football, and revealed that there have been contacts for him to be called up by Argentina’s national team.
“Because of his personality, he is going to win minutes. He has a lot to give ”.
“He said that he has contact with the people of the national team, but he did not say anything about Scaloni.”
Reports from Argentine at the weekend claimed Tottenham are initially spending $17m on the signing, with other potential $6m in performance bonuses. Rosario are also set to keep 10% of a future sale.
Veliz, who’ll be his club’s biggest sale ever, is set to sign a five-year deal with Spurs, and should soon get his transfer made official.
