Last summer, Brighton were vying for the signature of defender Juan Miranda, who was then about to leave Real Betis.

The Spaniard ended up joining Bologna, replacing Riccardo Calafiori at left-back and has impressed since his arrival.

Vincenzo Italiano’s side are in the hunt to qualify for the Champions League and Tuttomercatoweb have provided some background about the 25-year-old.

They state Brighton did come forward in the summer for the versatile defender and praise is heaped on to Bologna sporting director Giovanni Sartori for snatching Miranda away from not just the Seagulls but also from Ajax.

The report states in 2023, AC Milan had come very close to signing the left-back. Everything was practically done for Miranda’s move to Milan until Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s arrival changed things.

This allowed Brighton to come into the picture last summer, but the Premier League side couldn’t get a deal over the line.

There is also hope that former Spain U21s man will allow more of an upside in the future.
