After being linked with a move for Sheffield Wednesday forward Steven Fletcher, it seems Panathinaikos are now exploring the possibility of signing Brentford’s young left back Ilias Chatzitheodoridis.
Sdna.gr report the 20-year old Greek left-back is a target for Pana, and their sporting director Nikos Dabizas has already travelled to England to hold talks with Brentford.
The former Arsenal man has one year left on his contract and Sdna report Dabizas is hoping the player will join Panathinaikos soon, so he can be part of their preseason training camp in the Netherlands.
At the weekend the Greek club were said to be interested in Scotland international Steven Fletcher.
Pana reportedly held talks with Owls but could be priced out of a deal because of the player’s salary demands.
Chatzitheodoridis spent the last season on loan at League Two side Cheltenham Town from Brentford, where he made 18 appearances for the club, and his wages demands are likely to be lower than Fletcher’s.
