Greek website Sdna.Gr report Olympiacos sporting director Francois Modesto has held a meeting with the agent of Liverpool attacker Lazar Markovic.
Last week we covered reports from the Greek press that Markovic is a target for Olympiacos after they failed to convince Nottingham Forest’s Barrie McKay over a move to Piraeus.
However, Sdna say Anderlecht and Standard Liege are also in the race to sign the Liverpool attacker.
Recent reports suggest Markovic’s wages could be an issue for Olympiacos, with claims the Serbia international earns €2m a season with Liverpool.
Subsequently it’s very likely he would need to take a pay cut if he headed to either Greece or Belgium.
Markovic doesn’t seem to be in the long terms plans of Jurgen Klopp and his time on Merseyside looks to be coming to an end. The player spent the second half of last season on loan with Anderlecht after failing to force himself into Klopps team.
Liverpool would surely prefer a permanent move this summer.
