Earlier this week, Juventus held talks with Newcastle United regarding a move for defender Lloyd Kelly.

While it now seems that even though the Italian giants have sealed a move for Chelsea’s Renato Veiga, they still want Kelly and are making attempts in that direction.

TuttoSport have reported today that Juve’s signing of Renato Veiga will not be their last move in January.

The newspaper claim that in the last few hours, the club’s sporting director Cristiano Guintoli has ‘increased contacts’ with Newcastle United for the 26-year-old Kelly, who is just months into his stint at St James’ Park.

Juve had tried to sign the Englishman in the summer but they couldn’t find an agreement with his entourage. There’s much more confidence now.

There is belief that all parties are trying to reach an agreement. Tuttosport seem confident that even Newcastle United are interested in letting the centre-back leave, on the right terms.

The move is being built around an initial loan deal with the obligation to buy, which will be triggered if certain objectives are met. The objectives are likely to be Juve’s qualification for the Champions League and Kelly making a high number of appearances in the rest of the season.

The figure for the move is predicted to be just below €20m and all things point towards work ongoing.
