There’s a claim in the Turkish media that Besiktas’ hierarchy vetoed a move for Tottenham Hotspur attacker Manor Solomon before his loan transfer to Leeds United.
The 25-year-old joined the Championship side on loan for the season during the last transfer window.
Fotospor have reported on former Besiktas sporting director Brad Friedel’s pursuit for the Tottenham owned player.
Friedel was sacked last week from his role with the Istanbul side, but it’s since been revealed he tried to sign Soloman after being instructed by Giovanni van Bronckhorst that they needed to bring in a left winger.
The Turkish media outlet say Friedel even got approval from Tottenham to sign Solomon, but other Besiktas directors were concerned about signing an Israeli player due to opinions on the current Palestine situation within the Super Lig club.
Subsequently, Leeds United stepped in and brought in the player just before the transfer window closed.
Solomon has made ten appearances for the west Yorkshire side this season, scoring two goals. He’s contracted to Tottenham until June 2028.
Brad Freidel seems to want people to know he didn’t conduct transfer business the way he would have liked.
