Real Betis are determined to retain Manchester United’s Antony beyond his loan spell until the end of this season.
That’s according to Real Betis sporting director Manu Fajardo, and he revealed this during a chat with Movistar, with Mundo Deportivo relaying his comments.
Antony struggled for a prominent role at Manchester United since the start of last season.
In search of more playing time, he joined the La Liga club on loan in the winter market. The move has clearly worked out for Antony, who is not only featuring regularly but also impressing for Real Betis.
The winger has scored four goals and registered four assists from 13 games for Manuel Pellegrini’s side. His loan deal lasts until the end of this season and the Spanish club don’t have an option or obligation to buy.
Last week, the Manchester United owned player stated it’s too early to discuss his future beyond this season. Three days ago, Marc Bartra joined Isco to discuss crowdfunding to buy the Brazilian in the summer window.
Mundo state Fajardo wants to have the former Ajax man on loan for another year at least.
“It’s a source of personal satisfaction, but it’s the result of teamwork. I’m responsible for the sporting direction, but there are many people involved in this signing,” he said.
“It’s still early, but we’ll try in different ways to do everything possible to continue enjoying Antony.”
The Brazilian has a contract at Old Trafford until 2027.
