While Lazio have been linked with Celtic’s Moussa Dembélé a fair bit recently, no actual move has been made for the French striker, as their priority appears to be Club Brugge’s Wesley.
The former Fulham starlet remains an option for the Serie A side, but it seems Brendan Rodgers might have another headache on the horizon, as another side are contemplating putting a bid in for the forward.
To no one’s surprise, L’Equipe report Marseille’s director of football, Andoni Zubizarreta, still has the Celtic man on his shortlist, just behind Simone Zaza, for whom talks have already started.
However, the Spaniard is aware it could be quite costly, at least by Ligue 1 standards, to convince the Scottish Premiership champions to part ways with the striker.
The French newspaper reckon €15m should do the trick, either up front or via a loan with an obligation to buy, but no movement has taken place yet.
So far, Marseille have only probed the player’s entourage, which seems to happen at least once a transfer window, to find out where he stands on a potential return to France.
There’s also hope Celtic’s Champions League football exit could swing things in their favour, as Marseille are already in the Europa League group stages.
