In the winter market, Arsenal’s Mika Biereth joined SK Sturm Graz on loan after cutting short his temporary stay at Motherwell. This has worked out for the striker and he’s starred for the Austrian club, managing eight goals and an assist from 11 games so far.
Claims in the UK have stated Sturm Graz are happy with the Arsenal owned player and are aiming to buy him permanently.
Tipsbladet got in touch with Sturm Graz sporting director Andreas Schicker to find out their plans for the 21-year-old.
He claims an Arsenal official will make a trip to Austria to hold talks about the Denmark U21 international.
“Mika is doing really well in Graz. We are very happy with his performance so far. Arsenal are also paying close attention and one of their employees is actually coming to Graz in the near future, where we will talk about Mika,” he said.
The Sturm Graz official has also insisted that it won’t be easy for his side to hold on to the Arsenal striker.
“Of course, we would like Mika to stay for a longer period of time, but we also know that it will be difficult to make that happen. I am in contact with Mika’s advisors and Arsenal, and we will see what the future brings,” Schicker explained.
This isn’t the first time Schicker has talked about his side’s desire to hold on to Biereth beyond this season. Last month, the director revealed Sturm Graz have been in constant contact with Arsenal, who refused to include a purchase option as part of the loan deal.
As of now, the frontman has to return to Arsenal in the summer, after his loan spell at Sturm Graz.
