On Wednesday, we covered claims from Italy which stated Nottingham Forest are keen on signing Udinese’s Jaka Bijol this summer.

Earlier today, Messaggero Veneto backed up the Reds’ interest in the centre-back and added that they have become the latest club to make an approach to sign him.

It was also stated the Serie A side are aware of the interest shown by Nottingham Forest, Bologna, Atalanta, VfL Wolfsburg and VfB Stuttgart, and that they have set an asking price of €16-17m for the defender.

Nuno Espírito Santo’s side and other clubs who have shown interest in the 25-year-old have now received encouragement as Udinese technical director Nani has opened the door for his exit this summer.

Speaking to Radio Sportiva, relayed by Tutto Udinese, Nani has revealed the Slovenia international is on the radar of the Premier League sides, without confirming the details of these clubs.

“I would be surprised if he wasn’t appreciated by Inter and other important teams. Until he was eliminated, he proved to be the best defender in the Euros. He is a complete, defensive leader, I don’t see serious amnesia, mistakes happen to everyone,” he said.

“He attracted the attention of many clubs especially in the Premier League. It’s important for us and we would like to keep him but we have to be ready. If an offer arrives, we will discuss it.”

Earlier this month, Gazzetta dello Sport explained that Aston Villa have made contact for the defender and they seem ready to close the deal in the coming weeks.

Bijol made 25 appearances for the Italian club last season.
