Besiktas vice president Serdal Adali has spoken to NtvSpor about the latest developments at the club.

Adali confirmed they are interested in signing Stoke City defender Bruno Martins Indi but  admitted an agreement is far away at this stage: “A left-sided defender is our priority. We are in talks with a couple of players and one of them is Bruno Martins Indi.

“But I have to say, the deal for him is looking unlikely at this stage. His cost is too big for us, we will struggle to afford. But we still have a lot of time. Let’s see what happens before the end of the month.”

The Black Eagles have been strongly linked with a move for the Stoke City man and recent reports from the Turkish press suggested Stoke are looking to get €6m from the sale of the player.

With Stoke City failing to get promotion back to the Premier League there have been claims the Dutchman wants to find a new club before the transfer deadline on Thursday.

In recent weeks the Turkish side have also been linked with other central defenders from England following reports they are closely watching the situation with Manchester City’s Eliaquim Mangala and Huddersfield Town’s Terence Kongolo.

Martins Indi is contracted to the Potters until June 2022.
