Chelsea have asked for special dispensation so that youngster Kendry Páez can join them and complete his ‘adaptation’ ahead of moving to the club in the summer.
That’s according to El Universo, who cover the player today and comments from Independiente del Valle’s sporting director Luis Fernando Saritama, who has confirmed that is the case.
Páez is set to join Chelsea on a permanent basis in the summer transfer window after he turns 18-years-old in May.
The Blues completed a deal for the highly rated youngster back in 2023 but have had to wait until he turns 18 this year before bringing him to Stamford Bridge.
He’s been continuing his development with Independiente since then but was recently missing from a 2-0 win over Libertad FC. His absence was something which ‘drew attention’ and it seems Chelsea are behind it.
“There is a request from Chelsea for the player to have an adaptation period in Europe from now on. We are analysing it, with his representation agency and the club that owns his rights,” explained Saritama when asked about the youngster.
El Universo then add that Páez is currently in London, at Cobham, Chelsea’s training ground, in a ‘period of adaptation’.
Ecuavisa, via information from journalist Joaquín Saavedra, report that this will be for a month rather than until the end of the season.
