Wolves will be spending next season in the Championship and the transfer plan this summer will be to sign players for that.
Returning to the Premier League at the first time of asking is the task at hand, and Diogo Bezerra has been identified to help.
Even before relegation was confirmed, it was clear Wolves will be losing multiple players in the coming weeks. Some will believe they’re above Championship football, and others will be sold due to club-level decisions.
As Wolves look to bring incomings to the club, it’s no surprise they’ve turned to Portugal.
Diogo Bezerra is Wolves transfer desire
As reported in Thursday’s edition of O Jogo, Wolves have made contact to sign Diogo Bezerra.
The 23-year-old Brazilian is a winger,who can operate on both sides but prefers the right.
He currently plays for Rio Ave, having joined the Portuguese club from Serbia’s OFK Beograd in January. Since then he’s played 16 matches, scoring one goal and adding two assists.
Bezerra’s goal came in the 4-1 defeat to Sporting at the weekend.
What O Jogo say about transfer efforts
According to the Portuguese newspaper, Wolves have been watching the attacker’s progress. That scouting has encouraged them to make efforts for a summer transfer.
Wolves have had scouts at multiple Portuguese matches in recent weeks, and it would appear it’s a market they’re again turning to.
Talks have already been initiated with Rio Ave to try and secure a summer transfer. The club paid €1.8m for Diogo Bezerra in January and there’s no indication of asking price.
Big name agent
The Brazilian is represented by his compatriot Rafaela Pimenta, who took over a chunk of the Mino Raiola portfolio following the super-agent’s death. She represents some big names in football, including Erling Haaland.
Diogo Bezerra is on record as saying his ultimate dream is the Premier League. There’s a reasonable chance he’d see Wolves as a good way of getting there.
