With six assists in 15 games for Tottenham since the start of the season, Pedro Porro has become a near immovable object in Ange Postecoglou’s plans.
The Spaniard boasts four of those in his last five games, and he is slowly but surely finding his feet in the new role asked of him by the new Spurs manager.
Speaking to AS after the 4-1 win over Newcastle, the Tottenham defender admitted that it wasn’t easy at first, since he was used to overlapping so much at Sporting CP, while Postecoglou wants him to come inside more in London.
Making it clear that Spurs ‘deserved’ the win against the Magpies, he also spoke about how hard it has been to get used to his manager’s new requests.
He said: “At the beginning, it was very difficult for me because I had never played there before and it was new to me. Every game, I’m feeling much better. With the passing of games and the trust of the manager, I’m getting more and more comfortable. I’m happy and I hope to keep playing good games there.”
A lot of expectations were placed on the Spain international’s shoulders when he was finally bought for €40m from Sporting CP this summer after a first season filled with ups and downs at Tottenham.
The constant rotation of managers certainly didn’t help, but he has now found stability under Postecoglou and is reaping the benefits.
