Manchester United were credited with an interest Morten Hjulmand before Ruben Amorim arrived at Old Trafford from Sporting in November.
The Denmark international was a starter under Amorim at Sporting and maintained his place even after the manager’s exit. Last summer, Manchester United had sent a scout to follow the 25-year-old at the Euros.
On October 30th, Record journalist Ricardo Granada stated the Red Devils could take him to Old Trafford. A month ago, Viaplay expert Per Frimann said Hjulmand would fit well under Amorim at Manchester United.
Jornal de Notícias relay earlier claims about Manchester United wanting the player and then provide the latest on his future.
They claim the Dane is of interest to several clubs, without mentioning their details, and the Lions are well aware of this. He has a €80m release clause in his contract that expires in 2028.
Sporting have decided to let Hjulmand leave for a price less than €80m in the summer window. The report makes no mention of the fee needed to convince them to sanction the transfer.
Manchester United would have to invest on a new midfielder in the next window. Amorim knows Hjulmand and it wouldn’t be surprising if the Portuguese tries to bring him to Old Trafford.
