Nantes midfielder Pedro Chirivella has admitted he will never forget his time at Liverpool, with the chance to play at Anfield something he will talk about for the rest of his life.
Chirivella joined Liverpool’s U18s in a €2.3m deal from Valencia in 2013 and spent the next seven years at the club before a free transfer to Nantes in July 2020.
He would only make 11 first team appearances for Liverpool, though, instead spending his time at the club on various loan deals with Go Ahead Eagles, Willem II and Extremadura.
It wasn’t meant to be for him with Liverpool, where he struggled to make an impact and prove that he had a long-term future at the club.
He’s since established himself as a key player with Nantes in Ligue 1, making 94 appearances in all competitions for the club in the last two years.
It seems he doesn’t look back on his time at Liverpool with any resentment, though, instead insisting it was an experience he will never forget.
“I have very good memories, although there were some difficult moments. I learned a lot and grew a lot, both in football and personally,” he told Mundo Deportivo.
“To be lucky enough to play there and be on the pitch for ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ is something I will tell my children and grandchildren about.”
