Ademola Lookman left Leicester City in the summer, when his loan move with the Foxes expired.
He’d been in and out of Brendan Rodgers’ side but still scored eight goals and added four assists over the course of the season. There wasn’t a charge from the Premier League club to keep him.
Lookman was sent back to RB Leipzig, who then sold him to Atalanta for around €15m. Right now that move is looking an excellent one for the Serie A club, and Leicester may feel they didn’t get enough out of the player.
The 25-year-old has scored 14 goals in 21 matches since his move to Italian football. On top of that he’s added five assists for Atalanta, including one in a victory over Lazio on Saturday.
Fabio Perfetti doesn’t feel this kind of form was expected, at least not so quickly. SportItalia quote the pundit as saying: “We already knew his characteristics when he played in Leicester, it was difficult to imagine a similar impact with as a new player in our league.”
Lookman’s value is quickly rising and the Serie A club will feel they’ve managed to get something of a bargain.
