Since Viktor Gyokeres started having an impressive season at Sporting, Chelsea have been named by the Portuguese media as the main contenders for his signing.
That’s why as Calcio Mercato today writes about AC Milan’s interest in the striker, they point out how difficult it would be for the Rossoneri to win that race.
The outlet acknowledges that chasing Gyokeres now may be too late, because ‘half of Europe’ are keen on his signing, including Chelsea.
It’s said the Blues tried the transfer in January, knocking on Sporting’s door, but had no luck and should try again soon.
Gyokeres left Coventry City for just €20m last summer, and Calcio Mercato reckon he’s now worth three times that. Now besides the financial aspect, another reason why Milan should have a disadvantage is that he sees England as a ‘second home’.
The striker has 30 goals and 11 assists in 33 appearances since joining Sporting. Those are quite impressive numbers, and Chelsea should be aware that the race for his signing is only growing, even though there are few clubs who’ll be able to actually fight for him.
