Following the news that Lucas Bergvall chose to Tottenham over Barcelona for his next transfer, the 18-year-old has given an interview to Aftonbladet.

The midfielder has already given his two cents about the move to Spurs’ media after the announcement, but he now had the chance to speak to his local media about his choice, including whether or not Dejan Kulusevski had a hand in the deal.

Bergvall immediately made it clear that having to choose between Tottenham and Barcelona, both ‘incredible clubs’, was a ‘very difficult choice’.

He admitted that it was ’50-50 for a long time’, but eventually decided that choosing Spurs over the La Liga giants ‘felt better’ in his gut, and it ‘wasn’t easy to say no’ to Xavi’s side.

Asked if it was all a ‘gut feeling’, he simply replied: “Yes.”

Now back with Djurgården, the midfielder admitted that a lot of what was written in the press wasn’t true and all the attention around him was a ‘little tough’ to handle, although he made sure not to try and let it affect him in his day to day life.

As for the well-covered chat with Dejan Kulusevski, he said: “We talked a little before. In general, how the club works, how they work, how they train, what the days look like. It wasn’t a persuasive talk like that.

“He just said the club was great and I noticed that when I got there. I got an incredible reception. It’s a very family club, but incredible people.”

He did have a chat with the Sweden international when he went to visit Tottenham’s infrastructures, but made it clear they had also been in touch beforehand.

In short, the decision seemingly was his, and while he did have contact with Kulusevski, that certainly wasn’t the decisive factor.
