By now, most Sheffield United fans will be aware that Iliman Ndiaye is leaving the Blades to head to Marseille in Ligue 1.
In what has been a rollercoaster of a saga, the forward first wanted to go, before being convinced otherwise by the newly promoted Premier League club and Paul Heckingbottom, only to then change his mind again when the French club refused to give up.
In the end, as reported by L’Equipe on Monday, the player will be signing from Sheffield United for Marseille, having already travelled to undergo his medicals today.
That isn’t what this article is about however, as the French newspaper also point out that different sources are naming different amounts for the transfer fee.
They claim that Marseille are stating there is a ‘fixed base’ of €17m for the Ligue 1 side to buy out the final year of the Sheffield United star’s contract.
However, other sources ‘close to the affair’ talk about a final amount getting closer to €20m.
Ndiaye will sign a five-year deal with his new club after arriving in the south of France just after midnight on Monday, and barring any issues during the medical, he has now played his final game for the Blades.
