It’s perhaps best to start with a little recap here.
After Aston Villa and Fenerbahce agreed a deal for Diego Carlos, and the Brazilian agreed personal terms, he was all set to fly to Turkey and complete the transfer.
Originally, Carlos was set to arrive in the early hours of Tuesday morning, That was then put back to 6pm local time, and then 10pm local time. Claims in Turkey said Monchi had put a hold on the flight until Aston Villa could be sure of having a replacement.
Sevilla rejected the Premier League club’s first offer for Loïc Badé and were demanding €30m, which was thought to be too much.
Yağız Sabuncuoğlu now reports Carlos won’t be landing at 10pm, it will actually be just after midnight, again local time. The key here is that the plane has left and unless Monchi calls a halt to things whilst the defender is mid-air then that should be that.
Does that mean there’s been a breakthrough on Loïc Badé? Maybe.
Vamos Mi Sevilla report that €25m plus €5m in bonuses would be enough, so perhaps there’s some middle-ground to find. It’s also worth noting that earlier Spanish claims made it clear Aston Villa have other options.
