Lucas Pérez struggled for regular playing time at Arsenal and left the Emirates for West Ham United in 2018.

Even after joining the Hammers, things didn’t improve for the Spaniard as he made only 15 appearances under Manuel Pellegrini’s guidance last season, which included only four starts.

The 31-year-old left West Ham and joined Alavés in the last window, which has helped him regain his best form. He’s scored seven goals and registered two assists in 14 La Liga appearances.

AS have hailed the former Arsenal man and his teammate Joselu as the duo have collectively scored 13 goals in the league. They have the second-best strike partnership in La Liga, behind Barcelona’s star duo of Lionel Messi (8) and Luis Suárez (7).

The Spanish newspaper have also gathered comments from Pérez, in which he explained West Ham’s reluctance to bet on him forced him to leave them in the summer.

“In England they didn’t value me and we looked for a club in the summer where I could feel the same as I felt a few years ago in Deportivo. We were right,” he said.

“My first dream was to play for the club from my, the second to compete in the Champions League and I did it with Arsenal. The third dream I have is to be an international with Spain.”

AS claims Pérez has ‘found happiness’ after leaving West Ham for Alavés in the last window.
