Kalidou Koulibaly’s potential early exit from Chelsea is slowly becoming a frequent story in the Italian media.
This time it’s Sport Mediaset journalist Marco Barzaghi who, on Youtube, claimed the defender is now a target for Inter Milan.
According to the report, the Chelsea player is now one of the top names the Nerazzurri have to strengthen their defence.
“In defence we don’t think only of Scalvini. Koulibaly could be included in the discussions with Chelsea because he didn’t fully convince in his English adventure. For Inzaghi, it would be a reinforcement of great strength and capable of being able to command the defence for several years,” said Barzaghi (via Napoli Magazine).
After years being linked to a Premier League move, Koulibaly joined Chelsea last summer in a €38m deal from Napoli. His first few months at Stamford Bridge, however, weren’t as impactful as first expected, as he made 14 appearances and ended up staying on the bench a few times.
Last week, it was claimed by the Italian media that Koulibaly was not thinking of an early departure from Chelsea, as his focus would be on proving himself at the London side.
However, as Italian clubs watch his perceived struggles in the Premier League, it seems they are already prepared for his potential return to Serie A, despite his contract with the Blues running until 2023.
