Roma goalkeeper Robin Olsen has undergone his medical with Aston Villa and signed a deal that will tie him to Steven Gerrard’s side until the end of the season.
That’s according to Gianluca di Marzio, who provides the details behind Villa’s third signing of the January transfer window.
Olsen has been heavily linked with a move to Villa Park over the last week or so, with Gerrard keen to add competition for Emiliano Martinez.
Reports over the weekend indicated that a deal was close to being finalised between Roma and Aston Villa and Di Marzio confirms as much.
He says the goalkeeper has already undergone his medical and ‘signed a contract’ until the end of the season.
He will join Aston Villa on a loan deal with a purchase option for €3.5m should Villa decide to turn his move into a permanent one at the end of the deal.
It will see the Swedish goalkeeper take a step up from the Championship for the second half of this season after spending the first half of this campaign with Sheffield United, where he made 11 appearances in the Championship.
