Tottenham ‘deserved something more’ from their draw with Arsenal, after showing their brave new style of football under Ange Postecoglou.
That’s according to goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario, via TMW, who suggests Tottenham deserved to win the North London derby at the Emirates.
Arsenal and Tottenham met for the first time this season on Sunday, playing out an entertaining end to end 2-2 draw that twice saw the away side come back.
Arsenal had taken the lead through a Cristian Romero own goal before Son Heung-min levelled the scores in the 42nd minute. A Bukayo Saka penalty restored the home side’s lead before Son’s second goal came a minute later to level things once again.
The scores remained that way until the final whistle, despite both sides enjoying chances to win the game and seal all three points.
Afterwards, it was Tottenham who appeared to earn the majority of the praise, with many praising their performance and the continued development they are showing under Postecoglou in the early days of his reign.
Vicario, a summer signing, is one of those who believes that is warranted, and admitted he thought his side deserved more from the game too.
“This is our way of playing football from the back,” TMW report him saying.
“We have to take risks; we play from the back to move the third man. We follow our coach’s instructions.
“After the match against Arsenal I was quite satisfied, the most important thing was to show everyone who we are. I think we deserved something more because we have played excellent football.”
