As João Gomes prepares for his move to Wolverhampton Wanderers, he already said goodbye to his teammates at Flamengo.
That was revealed today in an Instagram story from defender David Luiz, who recorded the midfielder’s final chat with players and staff.
Gomes, who’s clearly very happy about the move, thanks the centre-back ‘for everything’, also mentioning that he’s wearing orange sneakers, and pointing out ‘it’s cold’ at the place he’s going to.
David Luiz also left Gomes a message, writing: “Go with God, brother. You deserve it! God bless you a lot”.
As reported by the Brazilian media, Wolves won the race against Lyon for the signing, and are landing João Gomes on an €18.7m deal, plus €1.5m in bonuses and 10% of a future transfer.
It wasn’t easy for them to win that battle, because the French club had outbid them and Flamengo wanted the player to go to France.
Still, Gomes and his staff made it clear they wanted the move to the Molineux, and that convinced the Premier League side to spend a little more on his signing.
