Derby County have seen a bid for goalkeeper Jacob Widell Zetterström rejected by Djurgårdens IF but need to seriously up their efforts to get him.
That’s according to Sportbladet, who report that Derby’s first offer for the player is well short of what the Swedish side value him at.
They explain that Djurgårdens IF ‘are not close to selling’ Zetterström, with Derby’s offer not close to being a convincing one.
Zetterström has been impressing in the Allsvenskan and has established himself as one of the better goalkeepers in the division, something that has led to a number of clubs scouting him and some showing concrete interest.
Derby can be included in the latter group, contacting Djurgårdens IF and stating what they would be willing to pay, although the newspaper doesn’t disclose the figure involved.
What they do say is that Djurgårdens IF are not willing to accept the figure that has been offered and the parties are far apart at this moment in time.
Indeed, it would ‘take a lot’ for the Swedish side to sell Zetterström, although club chief Bosse Andersson has insisted that the right offer could consider them to sell to Derby or anyone else.
“You notice that the interest in Jacob has increased and there are a couple of clubs that we have been in contact with,” he said.
“If there’s something really good about Jacob, we’ll work it out, but it’s not something that’s relevant right now. But there is interest in him.”
