Last summer, Manchester United allowed Mason Greenwood to join Getafe on a season-long loan deal.
The Red Devils had then stated the move will help him “rebuild his career” away from Old Trafford. This step was taken after Manchester United concluded an internal investigation into allegations made against the 22-year-old.
Getafe president Ángel Torres was a guest on El Partidazo de Cope, where he was asked about how his side were able to sign the Manchester United owned player, and his quotes are relayed by Estadio Deportivo.
“There was a lot of movement, we had to study it. We found out what had happened. He’s doing well, he’s calm. He’s very comfortable. He’s crazy about staying another year,” he said.
The forward has scored five goals and registered five assists from 24 games this season, and it’s not yet clear where his future lies after the loan spell. There have been rumours of interest from Barcelona, Real Madrid and a few other clubs, although those rumours are often driven from England.
When asked about the attacker’s future, Torres explained: “It’s a matter that they have to decide. There is new ownership. They have to say it. In Spain he has a market but they have money. Barça’s way of playing is going well but it depends on Manchester United. If it’s true, he’ll tell me.”
Sir Jim Ratcliffe led Ineos completed the minority takeover of Manchester United earlier this week, after which he spoke to the British media.
The new Manchester United co-owner said a decision will be made on Greenwood’s future at the club.
