Rasmus Højlund could be in contention to make his Manchester United debut when they face Arsenal this weekend, according to Denmark manager Kasper Hjulmand.
Earlier this month, the Red Devils completed the striker’s signing from Atalanta and he was forced to miss the opening three games due to an injury.
Hjulmand has included the 20-year-old in the national squad to face San Marino and Finland in European qualifiers next month.
Speaking to the reporters on Tuesday, relayed by Bold.dk, the Denmark coach admitted the Manchester United player could be in the squad to face Arsenal at the Emirates on Sunday.
“I’ve been in Manchester to watch Rasmus train and he’s in full gear, so he’ll probably be in the squad for the weekend. There is of course a caveat, and he must show that he is ready this week,” he said.
Hjulmand has insisted there is an agreement in place with Manchester United with regards to Højlund’s involvement for next month’s international break.
“I have been in Manchester and have some clear agreements with the club. He should preferably get some minutes so that we can see that he’s there. He lacks game time, that’s clear, but he’s going to play a role, so we’ll have to see what he can do,” TV2 Sport quoted the national team manager as saying.
Erik ten Hag used Marcus Rashford as a striker in the first two games before deploying Anthony Martial up front in his side’s win over Nottingham Forest.
Højlund’s availability would provide the manager more options in attack for the clash against Arsenal.
