Leeds United’s Mateusz Klich has seen his playing time restricted under the orders of Jesse Marsch this season.
The Poland international has managed only one start in the current campaign and that came in his side’s EFL Cup win over Barnsley in the EFL Cup. He scored a brace as the Whites sealed a 3-1 win in August.
Marsch has used the midfielder only as a substitute in the league, getting him off the bench 11 times. Klich has been restricted to less than 300 minutes of action for Leeds in all competitions.
The 32-year-old’s situation at Elland Road is likely to have an impact on his involvement with the national team at the Qatar World Cup.
This is what journalist Tomasz Włodarczyk says, and he made this this claim during Meczyki’s Pogadajmy o piłce as he tried to predict who will be part of the 26 players called up for the tournament.
“But who knows, maybe there will still be corrections here, but these are places [for] 23-26. I think there will be no huge surprises if, of course, everyone is healthy.”
Poland manager Czesław Michniewicz will announce the final list for the World Cup in the coming days and it will be clear whether Włodarczyk’s claim about Klich will come true.
