Diego Coppola joined Brighton from Hellas Verona for £9m.
The defender’s arrival was a coup, as multiple Italian giants had been looking to sign him in the summer.
Since joining though, the centre-back hasn’t played enough to make an impact at Brighton. He’s featured for only 17 minutes in the Premier League, with Fabian Hurzeler using him more often in the Carabao Cup.
Coppola’s game time has been blocked by Lewis Dunk and Jan Paul van Hecke. As a result, he could now leave the Seagulls.
Sportmediaset float the possibility of his loan exit in January.
This is because of the 21-year-old being short of game time. He is looking to play more often, having made two appearances for the Italian national side before his move to Brighton.
Tuttomercatoweb report something similar and indicate that clubs in Italy could be interested in the centre-back.
It is believed that Coppola will be a ‘decent back up’ for Hurzeler’s side. But if things don’t change, an exit can be on the cards for the Italian.
Coppola had been a regular for Verona in the 2024/25 season and lead their backline quite reliable. It shows that he is not an unproven asset at all.
