According to a claim in the Swedish media, Martin Olsson is on the verge of signing for West Bromwich Albion.

The 31 year old is currently without a club after his contract with Swansea City expired at the end of last season.

Expressen report Olsson will be ‘presented shortly’ as West Brom’s latest signing as they look to strengthen in this transfer window. It’s claimed both parties are close to agreeing a contract, and once the finer details are sorted then he’ll be officially announced as the Championship side’s player.

Speculation grew this weekend that Olsson was close to finding a new club after he was released early from Sweden’s training camp in Doha. The veteran also confirmed to the Swedish press that he was receiving interest from an English club, but he didn’t go as far as revealing who it was.

With West Brom pushing for promotion back to the Premier League the defender should bring experience to Slaven Bilic’s squad during the title run in.
