At the beginning of May, Wolves interest in John Kitolano was detailed by the Norwegian media.
The club’s interest had already been reported in Norway, and Wolves sent a scout to watch the young defender in action for Odd.
Wolves had already made an offer for the 18 year old left back, but Odd were trying to keep him and push a renewal. Kitolano’s current contract expires in December of this year, it’s a different time of year to what is usual in England because of the differing football calendar in Norway.
At the end of the same month, Wolves interest was reported again but the player was quoted as saying: “We have a good dialogue with Odd. I expect it to be done soon. I do not want to move anywhere. I want to be in Odd.”
Things seem to have changed. A lot.
Saturday’s edition of Varden, the Norwegian newspaper which has covering the potential transfer all this time, reports Kitolano is ‘on his way’ to Wolves and could sign for them before the window closes on August 9th.
Varden say they know the player has come to some kind of agreement with Wolves and they quote Emefie Aneke, the player’s agent, as saying: “I cannot comment on which club it is right now, but the reason John said no to Odd is that he wants to go abroad.
“Does the foreign club want to buy Kitolano now? Yes, but this is up to the clubs. Now Odd has the opportunity to negotiate an agreement that gives more than just training compensation, but the clubs have to figure this out.”
