Matteo Darmian’s return to Italy from Manchester United remains a quiet story in Italy, with few developments but continuous mentions of AS Roma being keen on the Italian if they can get some sales done.
The Serie A outfit are looking to sell the likes of Emerson Palmieri and Bruno Peres to the highest bidder in January, and, with that money, they would turn to the former Torino defender to fill the gaps due to his versatility, according to Corriere dello Sport.
Darmian is said to be open to that, wanting a ‘Brexit’, but it all comes down to Manchester United and José Mourinho.
The Red Devils are said to want around €12m for the 28-year-old, €5m less than what they wanted for him back in November, as per the very same newspaper.
Considering Chelsea are said to want Emerson on loan with a view to buy at €25m, Roma’s preferred business model for Darmian would be a similar deal, with the clause becoming compulsory after a certain amount of appearances.
As Corriere state, ‘with Manchester United, nothing is ever cheap’, which could force them to look elsewhere, perhaps for a Spaniard like Jonny or Juan Bernat.
Either way, Darmian is number one, but first, they must sell.
