It seems like Marca’s man in Valencia is duty bound to write an update on Shkodran Mustafi every day.
On Wednesday, ‘D.P.’ in Valencia said that an Arsenal offer had ‘not officially arrived’ for Mustafi. There was no insinuation it had arrived in any way unofficially.
However, on Thursday the same reporter says that the London club are increasing the pressure on Valencia to sell Mustafi, after originally having a €25m offer rejected.
It’s stated that if reports in the British press are true, about Arsenal being willing to go to €35m, then a deal could very much be done.
In Spain they appear to be pretty much convinced by the British reports, and it provides them with news to tell, but the word from Valencia still seems to be no bid received yet.
That ‘D.P.’ has changed his story so much in 24 hours is more likely due to a willingness to believe reports here, rather than Valencia changing their stance.
If anything, the reporting from the Valencia media (and not that which has travelled from the press here) has calmed down. Mustafi is no longer the top story.
That can of course change very quickly.
Mustafi still hasn’t recovered from a knock picked up in Valencia training last week. Maybe Arsene Wenger would rather he recovers a little bit more at the expense of Valencia.
