Fenerbahçe’s defender Simon Kjaer finally put transfer rumours to the bed after his side’s win against league leaders Medipol Başakşehir. The Yellow Canaries beat Başakşehir by1-0 and end their opponent’s 26 game unbeaten run. The Danish defender was once again an absolute rock in Fenerbahçe’s defence.

The 27-year old has been linked with a move to Chelsea, but Fenerbahçe understandably don’t not want to sell him in this transfer window. Kjaer has been one of the club’s key players this season as they continue to fight on three fronts.

Kjaer was asked about a move to Chelsea after the game and he said: ”These rumours are normal. They keep happening in every transfer window. I can confirm to you that I’ll not leave Fenerbahçe in this window. None of this news about me is true. I’ll stay as a Fenerbahçe player at least until the end of the season.

Kjaer’s comments at the weekend with regards to Chelsea’s interest coincide with a statement Fenerbahce recently released. The Turkish giants confirmed no offer had come in from Chelsea despite claims in the media, and that the Denmark international would see out the season with them.

There is hope for Antonio Conte, should Chelsea interest be genuine, with a summer certainly not ruled out.
