Manchester United and Liverpool were topics in an interview given by Swedish defender Henrik Castegren this week.
The player was interviewed by Allsvenskan, and when quizzed about his future, there was a very specific story about the two English clubs.
The reason for it is that Castegren is a Liverpool fan, while his wife, who’s a social media influencer, recently made a joke with him by showing their son wearing a Manchester United shirt.
So while the centre-back claims that he wants to play at the highest level possible, the newspaper asked him whether it’s the Red Devils who’d be a ‘dream club’ for him.
Castegren laughed at that, and ended up admitting that his support for Liverpool wouldn’t be enough for him to reject Manchester United.
“Ha, ha, ha. To be honest, I probably wouldn’t have turned down United but it was a bit of a shock to see Frans in a United shirt. It took a maximum of 20 minutes, then the shirt was folded in a package at a post office, ready to be sent back. Then we went to the nearest sports shop and bought a Liverpool shirt. Now he is completely in love with Sirius, Liverpool and Sweden.”
Castegren, who played for a few Swedish clubs, recently had a spell in Poland, and came back to his home country by switching KS Lechia for Sirius. He’s now about to turn 28, and it becomes unlikely that Liverpool and Manchester United could try his signing, although the local media likes to joke about that.
