Chelsea were linked to a number of defenders during the summer transfer window, before they eventually signed David Luiz. Kalidou Koulibaly, Alessio Romagnoli, Stefan de Vrij, Antonio Rudiger and several others were reportedly on Antonio Conte’s wish-list.
It was reported AS Roma could sell Rudiger to Chelsea for a bigger transfer fee thus making a profit, but nothing really materialised in the end. The German international suffered a cruciate ligament rupture in June that ruled him out for four months, with the player set to return to action soon.
However, according to Italian website Sport Leggo, Rudiger might not stay at the Serie A club for too long.
It’s reported Rudiger is ready to pack his bags should Chelsea or Paris-Saint Germain, who are also said to be on the search for a central defender after David Luiz’s departure, revive their interest in him.
It’d be interesting to see if Antonio Conte is ready to bet on Kurt Zouma, and Andreas Christensen, who could return from loan next summer, or sign a new defender in the near future.
